Nkechi Okwuone

Country Lead
She is the Country Lead for Code for Nigeria, a local chapter of Code for Africa - the continent’s largest independent Open Data, Civic Media and Civic Technology Initiative. A former employee of Microsoft Nigeria with the Philanthropies team. She also served as the Head, Open Data, Website and Social Media unit in the Information Communication Technology Agency, Edo State Government.

A distinquished career that has seen her become a School of Data 2015 Fellow, member of the Open Data Institute’s Open Data Leader’s Network (ODLN), a 2 time nominee of The Nigeria’s Future Awards Price in Public Service, a finalist of the McKinsey Next Generation Women Leaders’ Award, a 2016 Mandela Washington Fellow, an SME 100 under 25 women enterprising young women, Lagos Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum and a Data Champion with Harvard Evidence for Policy Design (EPoD).

She is a founding member of SabiHub, a non-profit organization with a vision to solve social problems using technology where she manages a vibrant tech community with mentorship programs for entrepreneurs. She is passionate about leading the next generation of youths who will be using technology to solve local social problems
