Maka Sam-Ejehu

Maka is a Lagos, Nigeria based Soul Singer/Song writer who began her musical journey as a member of a children’s choir led by her mother.

During her undergraduate days studying Law at the University of Lagos, Maka made a series of recordings which birthed her song “Loving You” produced by her elder brother, BFG which later won BeatFM’s Fresh Beats. She also ventured into doing backup vocals for notable Lagos acts.
Maka was off the music scene for a couple years as she had to finish her Law program. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2014.

Maka released her first official single, "Ife", produced by rapper/producer, "Eclipse" in 2015 with a social media campaign tagged #Makaiscoming which got her a lot of media attention. She went on to consolidate on this with the release of her debut EP “The Truth” , a 7 track blend of Soul, Afro-soul and Hip-Hop produced by Str8buttah founder and producer, Teckzilla with a launch concert in Lagos and Abuja. The well received project was featured on several sites such as EarMilk, thisisafrica, MTVbase and much more.

Some of her other collaborations have also been featured on sites such as TheSource, Okayafrica, Hiphopdx etc

Maka's career has seen her perform at events such as Felabration, Afropolitan Vibes, Badagry Festival, Freedom Hall, Lagos Jazz Series, to mention a few.

In 2016, Maka's song, "Good Time" was released off The Truth EP with a video as the official soundtrack of Jay Franklyn's popular movie, "Dinner". Maka's songwriting was also featured in the same year for Ebony Life TV web series, "Indigo" where she wrote songs for all ten episodes of the first season.

Maka is poised to bring a special blend of Soul music, Hip-Hop laced with Afrocentric elements to the mainstream without compromising her musical integrity.
