How is an online community book club different (better or worse) than a good old-fashioned physical book club?  


For some time The Book Club, Lagos typically held monthly book review meetings in various locations across Lagos. However, several members relocated, reducing participation. The Book Club leaned towards information technology and social media to allow participation by members in the diaspora, effectively opening a window for non Lagos residents to still participate.


This causal talk will discuss the pros and cons of a hybrid book review club. Speakers will examine the impact digitization has on information and idea dissemination and how member of the community have adapted.
