Millennials, born in the 1980s and reaching young adulthood in the first decade of the new millennium have grown up in a world in which information and interpersonal communication are instantaneous and ubiquitous. Access to relatively inexpensive but powerful information technology is a given for this generation that never really knew a world without the Internet, mobile phones and social media. There is a strong desire for “transparency” and “authenticity” yet the traditional medical community struggles to adequately cater to this generation. Social Media 101: Big Data & Technology for the Healthcare Industry aims to change the DNA of healthcare givers one at a time. This session is designed for health care givers to gain interactive, focused and practical, training about the need to accept convergence, social media, technology, and the potential in big Data.
