Ade is the founder and CEO of Locitude Enterprise, a business that functions as a platform for thousands of people with dreadlocks (locs).
After 4 years of battling with societal acceptance of dreadlocks, limited styling options and unprofessional salon services, Ade re-created styles from watching YouTube videos and applied her architectural leanings towards generating even more intricate hairstyles. This gave her positive attention and the motivation to create a blog (locitude.blogspot.com) that helps people in similar situations and gradually, the Locitude initiative was born.
Ade has grown a business that promotes societal acceptance of locs, self-confidence, networking and collaboration. Through social media and the Locitude hair-studio, Ade and her team are able to offer support and related services for the loc community.
Ade aims to build an engine that breaks the stereotype in the loc’d community, changes the narrative and continues to foster self-acceptance and awareness, as well as manufacturing high quality, locally sourced, made in Nigeria hair care related products and accessories.
